How to play South of the Border slot machine

The South of the Border game is one of the most stunning video slots on the Internet. It may seem complicated at first sight, but you will feel comfortable with the features after playing a few rounds.

Once the game launches on your device’s screen, tap the setting button to set your wagering amount. You can wager as little as one coin or a maximum of 40 coins on the 25 paylines. Use the plus and minus icons on either side of the bet button to adjust your stake.

Afterward, press the spin button to commence the spins. You can use the same button to end the game. Also, the Autoplay feature lets you set up to 100 concurrent spins.

The game’s standard symbols include the Cactus, Chili sauce, Tequila, Donkey pinata, cards 9, 10, the King, Jack, and Queen.

The volatility is medium, and the Return to Player is 96.5%. This strikes a decent balance between the payouts and the frequency of landing a winning combination. You will win a reward by landing three, four, or five standard matching symbols on the set lines. The game pays from left to right across the paylines.

South of the Border Slot game features

Theme

The South of Border slot has a Mexican theme with a cheerful guy in a Sombrero. The soundtrack plays mechanical guitar jingles as the reels rotate. You will see animations pop up from winning symbols, offering a real treat of the desert backdrop. There are also cartoon-style graphics that add to the mood of the game.

Symbols

The symbols include tacos, Cactus, Chili sauce, colorful donkey-shaped pinata, and a tasty Tequila. There are also mystery symbols that can boost your chances to win the jackpots. The Cactus is the highest-paying standard symbol. It is the only character that can reward you if two appear besides offering a payout of up to 6× for five of them on a payline. There are a couple of bonus rounds that can also boost your winnings.

Wild

The Hombre guy is the wild symbol and can replace other characters except the scatter. It also can help you land a sequence of winning combinations if it appears on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 but can’t reward you on its own. More so, it appears during the game’s regular rounds only.

Scatter

The South of the Border free online slot has two scatters; the sun and a Mexican mustache moon. Landing three of them on a payline rewards 2× the size of your stake. Four payout 10× while five are worth 100×. The sunflowers also act as scatters to trigger the jackpot feature. They also have attached prizes based on your stake.

Paylines

Playing slots on mobile

The game has 25 paylines on the five reels. The paylines payouts vary depending on your stake and whether you play the base game or the jackpot rounds.

Jackpot

The Loaded with Loot round is responsible for rewarding you with one of the non-progressive jackpot prizes. It comes with a golden vault door, a blanked-out sunflower, and a blue sunflower shape. Any five or more yellow sunflowers can pay you between 1× and 100× your stake. They also can award you an impressive payout of the Mini, Minor, or Major jackpots.

Free spins

The Loaded with Loot feature triggers the free spins. It starts by offering four free spins as sunflowers move across the playing grid to the right reels. Some of the flowers will add one to three extra spins and multipliers to the game. A flower that appears after the fourth will start to fill the meter with blue flowers above the vault. This gives you a chance to win the Grand Jackpot, assuming the vault opens after filling with ten flowers.
